AgileBits shows us how Android O's autofill API works with a 1Password demo

One of the most exciting changes in Android O is the new Autofill API that would allow password manager apps to register as system-wide providers of autofill services. In layman terms, this means that apps like LastPass, 1Password, Enpass, Dashlane, and others, won't have to use accessibility services or screen overlays anymore as a workaround to fill up your usernames and passwords. Instead, they will have one API that grants them native access to enter your information without too much hassle.

AgileBits has put up a demo of a test version of 1Password, its password manager, which has been updated to benefit from O's Autofill API.

Google is retiring Google Talk for good, also shutting down several Gmail Labs

Before there was Allo and Duo, before Hangouts was unveiled, there was Google Talk. In some ways, it was better than the Hangouts platform that replaced it. Talk had a real desktop app, and if you didn't like it, you could use any XMPP client to communicate. You could even send messages to users on other XMPP-powered services - a huge difference from today's proprietary messaging services.

Nova Launcher 5.1 beta adds 'dynamic icons' that pull badges from notification content

Nova Launcher is one of the most popular third-party launchers on Android, partially because it's always adding innovative new features. That is certainly the case with v5.1 beta 1, which adds something called "dynamic icons." Rather than a boring numeric badge, these are badges with the content from notifications in them.

ML Manager can now upload APKs straight to APKMirror [APK Download]

You may recall us covering ML Manager, an incredibly easy to use APK extractor tool, earlier this month. APK extractor tools can be incredibly useful, from simply backing up applications (perhaps ones removed from the Play Store) to uploading them to APKMirror. But for the latter, opening the site in a web browser and navigating to the upload page was still required.

Thankfully, the developer behind ML Manager has updated the app to support directly uploading to APKMirror. For you awesome people out there who frequently upload the latest versions of apps to the site, this should be a welcome addition.

Hangouts on Android will remove SMS support on May 22

Once upon a time, I was able to get most of my communication done through Hangouts. Between its support for standard SMS, Google Voice, and normal Hangouts conversations, it was an incredibly useful tool. It even could even merge SMS and Hangouts conversations into the same thread, much like iMessage on the iPhone.

Over the past year or so, Google has been separating all this functionality into separate apps. Google started asking SMS users to switch to Messages, then removed merged conversations, and finally launched a new separate Google Voice app. The company has also been trying to move people off Hangouts itself, with its new Allo and Duo apps.

Power Rangers: Legacy Wars morphs into an official release

Who doesn't love seeing movie tie-in games? Especially ones that call back to a cash-flush demographic of 20 to 30-somethings. Not only are these just an obvious advertisement, they often utilize detrimental gacha free-to-play mechanics. I mean, who wouldn't want this trendy new form of gambling shoved into their media? That is right, today's winner of egregious cash-ins off the backs of people's nostalgia is Power Rangers: Legacy Wars.

Adobe updates Photoshop Express to v3.3 and Photoshop Mix to v2.5

Adobe has long since abandoned the idea of producing "real" versions of Photoshop for mobile devices. Instead, it's fond of bite-sized apps that do a few image manipulation tricks with a simpler interface. Two of them are getting updates today: Photoshop Mix and Photoshop Express. One is getting a lot of features, and the other is only getting one.
